New Year’s may be over, but that doesn’t mean it’s time to put away your sparkling clothing. Stores are stocking up for spring, and one of the season’s top trends  glitters among the racks. Brighten up a drab winter day by adding sparkles, sequins, glitter and gem stones to your look.

When the weather is brutally chilly, an over-sized comfy sweater or sweatshirt is the perfect item to pull on with a pair of leggings. Add some flare by purchasing a top with sequined detailing, like this one from Lord and Taylor. Keep the rest of your look simple — don’t over accessorize.

For double “bling” (do people still say that word?), layer sequins on sequins. A sparkling sweater with a sparkly top underneath, like these tops from JCPenney, work well as the ultimate attention-getters for an evening out.
